FAQS

Here’s a list of answers to commonly asked questions. We’ve made this list so you don’t have to phone us if you don’t want to, we’d really like to hear from you though, get in touch!

How long is a session?

Training sessions can be 1, 2, or 3 hours long. Which depends on your preference and your allocation. Check with your trainer (or get in touch) if you’re unsure.

What will I learn?

Your needs assessor will have recommended lots of software and devices that fit your needs. Your D&A training session is a chance to learn how to make the best use of it all. Our resources page contains some guides and videos on your equipment if you want to get a feel for it all.

Where will my session be?

Sessions usually take place in your home. Computers, scanners, and printers can be a bit cumbersome to lug around. We also prefer to train somewhere where you can feel relaxed. If you’d rather train somewhere else then let your trainer know, there are plenty of other options.

What do I need?

Before your sessions a supplier will have visited and installed your equipment. As long as you know where it all is that’s all you need. It would be helpful if you had your needs assessment to hand but it’s not neccessary. If you’re not being trained at home then make sure to bring the equipment that you’ll need for your session with you!

Do I have to pay?

Absolutely not! Your funding body pays for your equipment and the training required to make the most of it. D&A’s training is all part of that. It might seem to good to be true, but in this case, it isn’t.

What if I have to cancel?

It really helps us if you give us as much notice as possible, it allows us to book in other students who are waiting, which equals happy students all round! We know emergencies happen – please try and give your trainer or the bookings team at least 24 hours notice (excluding bank holidays and weekends) if you need to rearrange, it really makes a difference!
