Jesse King
Accessibility and Inclusion Specialist
Pronouns: they/them
Jesse is an Accessibility and Inclusion Advisor within the Training and Innovations team. They are very passionate about using their lived experience of disability and neurodiversity to create social change.
Jesse studied a literature undergraduate degree followed by a masters in contemporary literature and culture. After being bed-bound for two years due to ME/CFS, they completed a nutrition degree before leaving the UK to tour music and live in a van in various European cities, towns and nature spots. During this time they worked alongside ME Action campaigning, fundraising and raising awareness of ME.
After exploring a variety of different avenues including coffee roasting and brand operations and not feeling as though the traditional workplace was authentically inclusive, they were desperate to immerse themselves within diversity and inclusion and use their linguistic and communication skills to develop training and facilitate workshops. Luckily, Diversity and Ability came along!
Jesse’s favourite part of the role is the conversations that come from the shared space within an inclusion workshop, as that is where the real cultural change begins! They love being in nature, books and having a different hobby every week.
