Exploring Neurodiversity, Race and Realities

26th May 2023 by Atif Choudhury

Join Diversity and Ability for Neurodiversity: Race and Realities, to learn from international industry experts, and put anti-racism talk into action.

This new course unpacks the systemic barriers impacting Black and Brown neurodiverse people. You will deepen your knowledge and understanding of the intersectional complexities of neurodiversity and race, as well as give you the practical skills to build inclusion in your organisation; as a leader and a team member.

“Without an intersectional understanding of the barriers in neurodiversity, how can we have a relevant understanding of neurodiversity!?  Class, migration, poverty, race, gender, shame and healing. It all plays a part in the  conversations of neurodiverse safety, and the innovation we all benefit from…”Atif Choudhury, CEO of Diversity and Ability, course tutor for Neurodiversity: Race and Realities

You’ll learn from the lived experience and expertise of international speakers and authors in the field of equity, diversity and inclusion. With interactive online learning, a rich bank of supporting resources and an in-person workshop day, you’ll get to be a part of a holistic, collaborative learning experience with fellow coursemates, alongside the opportunity to ask your questions directly to the experts.

You will learn more about the links between neurodiversity and race, what that intersection may look like for different groups of people, and have space to challenge your internal biases. By the end of the course, you will have the tools to embed your learning and impart your newfound knowledge in your teams and communities.

“Our intention is to build on the solidarity of neurodiverse experiences as an act of restorative justice,” says Atif. “To stand with the daily reality that prevents so many people of colour struggling to participate in the conversation around hidden differences. This includes building psychological safety in relation to neurodiversity itself. The course will examine the urgency of widening neurodiversity participation, and how the current understanding may be leaving people behind. We will be planting lifelong seeds and avenues for allyship.

Applications will be opening soon for the next course, so find out more and register your interest now to be the first to apply!
