Darlene Sherwood

Study Skills Tutor (SpLD)

Pronouns: she/her

Darlene usually goes by Dar. She describes herself as a dyslexia and dyspraxia specialist, sourdough baker and first-time gardener. She has been working with neurodiverse students for the last 15 years and still loves it. She finds it thrilling to help others unleash their true potential and recognise their own superpowers.

Aside from her dyslexia and assessing qualifications, she has a PGCE from the University of Greenwich and two master’s degrees. She has studied and lived in the US.

Dar finds baking sourdough bread very therapeutic. Baker’s will typically name their sourdough starters and Dar’s starter is Malcolm. Having never ever been able to keep a houseplant alive, Dar approached gardening with a healthy dose of fear and trepidation—however, to her surprise nature took over and she has a small kitchen garden producing various fruits and veggies. It’s a miracle.
