Fay Brownsword

Specialist Mentor (MH and AS) and Study Skills Tutor (SpLD and AS)

Fay has worked as a dyslexia tutor for over 15 years at The University for the Creative Arts in Farnham and also at the London School of Economics. Before this, she worked in various sixth-form colleges teaching A-level English Literature and Media Studies.

Fay has developed a particular interest in the areas of dyslexia, anxiety, and mental health and recently qualified as a counsellor, specialising in working with young adults. She currently works both as a SpLD tutor and a mental health student mentor. She also volunteers at a youth counselling agency.

She believes in putting herself in the role of the learner as much as possible. One of her favourite mantras is Ghandi’s advice “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever”. She is currently learning Spanish conversation, how to integrate more creative activities into mentoring sessions, and how to parallel park with confidence.
