Study Skills Tutor (SpLD)
Jo originally studied Art and Dance at Goldsmiths University of London. She then qualified as a secondary teacher and has 25 years of experience teaching disaffected and special educational needs adolescents, tutoring in Higher Education Institutions and also delivering training to teachers.
She’d always suspected her dyslexia and during studies as a mature student to become an SpLD tutor received a positive diagnosis. She uses her own experience of the DSA system to ensure that her students’ needs and strengths are central to study skills support.
Her personal and interests include art, film, dance, knitting, cooking, cycling and swimming.
She is a member of the Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE). She co-wrote the updates on two chapters of the third edition of Study Skills for Students with Dyslexia (Support for Specific Learning Differences) for SAGE publications.
