Study Skills Tutor
I have been involved in the field of supporting students for the last 20 years. I started with supporting learners as a student counselor in a high school and later I diversified into the field of supporting students with a range of learning difficulties. I have an undergraduate degree in Child Development, Masters degree in Social Welfare, Level 5 in Teaching students with SpLD and a certificate in teaching students with Dyscalculia. In addition I am a certified practitioner for the Orton Gillinham Phonics instruction and am involved with some SpLD work specifically in this area. I have worked with foster care programs, street children, High school students in an International setting with students from more than 50 nationalities and University students. I am passionate about working with students during their learning journey. I feel like my relaxed approach allows for anyone working with me to feel confident and involved in the learning process. It is a priority for me to tailor the sessions to each individual student according to their learning style and accommodating any specific needs. Many times the teaching at Universities is not geared towards students having different needs and learning can become overwhelming. Hence my role is to equip students to overcome these challenges. I love being a study skills tutor as I can help them make tasks manageable, maximise their strengths and experience success. I feel I am blessed to be working with D&A to help students achieve their potential.
Apart from teaching I love to cook Indian cuisine and also try other cuisines, enjoy going on long walks, listening to music and travelling.
