I am a speech and language therapist who has spent far more years than I like to remember supporting people with a wide range of communication differences. I am also a specialist teacher (SPLD) and have recently completed an MSc in Education (SPLD). In my spare time I write for a Special Educational Needs magazine.
More personally, I spectacularly crashed down the stairs two years ago and spent some time in a wheelchair recovering from the accident – which gave me an unlooked for insight into how unaccommodating a lot of our society still is. I come from a pretty dyspraxic family, where the lifespan of anything breakable in our house is about three months! This has its disadvantages, but it also means I am passionate about supporting people with SPLDs to reach their potential.
